Facelift??

The facelift is for 2015. Adding awd wouldn't be considered a facelift.
The CLS55 only existed for one year before being replaced by the CLS63, so not really unheard of either way.

It happens all the time---- BMW calls it LCI and after 1 short year the M5 already gets an LCI. The chassis remains the same but the car gets some upgrades and a performance package option amongst a few other things.
Its called the life of a car. You can get it early in the life cycle and probably get a lower msrp vs the next few years or you can get the car at the end with all the updates only to see the chassis revised and a completely new model comes out. I just stopped worrying a long time ago about things like this.
