I have to admit I've been reading up on the F10 M5 LCI with Comp pkg...and it is starting to get me thinking about a switch. Then I'm driving down the highway today and a cop pulls up beside me, starts pacing me and rolls down his window, at highway speed, we're having a conversation about my "sweet ride", how much hp, etc. I've slowed a little so we can chat, blocking up two of the three lanes of highway, with traffic building up behind us but no one willing to honk or pass. It was quite the scene, especially as I could see the traffic behind us wondering what was going on. He finishes the conversation by saying "enjoy the ride and drive safe" and drives off. Now that never happened with my M5.

I usually keep my cars 2 to 4 years. Traded in E60 M5 for CLS 6 months ago. Enjoying the CLS but I have to admit there is just something missing compared to my old M5. Wondering if F10 M5 has that "something"?

I just wanted to share a funny experience.

In my E60 M5, only car enthusiasts commented on the car, except when I was on Bluetooth phone, then the person on the line would always ask if I was at the racetrack, and that was without the exhaust note coming out of the speakers

Yeah the f10 gets you the audio enhanced exhaust

With my AMS catted downpipes and Akrapovic exhaust I couldn't tell you what sounds come out of my speakers.

I'll answer the first part of your question. Based on the fact that I heard exhaust notes while driving but when I was walking or standing outside, I heard stock F10M5s driving around and I didn't hear any significant exhaust note...then my assumption is that when my car was stock (during yhe test drive), the sound I heard was the ones pumping through the speakers. I had the car trucked directly from the dealership to ACG to have the Akrapovic exhaust installed so I began to hear the exhaust from that point.

As for your second question, the pipes and exhaust added 4,000 HP and my car is now faster than Zeus's Mount Olympus Ford Tauras.

I wouldn't say I enjoy it as much as I request it often. As a famous poet once said "never put purple wheels on a car".

And Vdub, I didn't get a tune and don't know the HP numbers for the downpipes and exhaust but I think other than weight reduction (exhaust) and better airflow with the downpipes, I don't think the HP/TQ gains are significant - and definitely not as significant as they would be if I went the catless route.
