My 12 CLS63 PP Photo/Video/Build Thread...
Hi everyone, I just picked up a 12 CLS63 with Performance Package last week and have some big plans for it. Shooting to eventually build it into a 1k whp somewhat daily driven street car to enjoy 1/4, 1/2 and 1 mile events along with plenty of trips to "Mexico".
I'm no stranger to power, I've had a few higher HP cars, a couple TT lambos, TT CTS-V, N20 V and a couple boosted Vettes.
Anyways, I figured I would keep it all in one thread for people to follow if they'd like. Hope you enjoy!
Here she is just before getting it re tinted, the stuff that was on it was too light and I wanted to get the windshield done too.
Just after the tint job.
Washed up later that night.
Went to a local car meet Friday night and met up with a Hellcat owner a supercharged Super B and a new 5.0 Mustang, we had a few runs amongst each other and the CLS PP came out on top! I was very impressed for a 100% stock car how well it did.

Here's the vid of the run against the Hellcat.
After the roll racing I realized I would be needing more traction for the low rolls so I picked up some 18" HRE C93's with Titanium hardware. Did R888's out front and temporarily running Hoosier DR's until my R888 rears come in this week.
I know this isn't to everyones liking but I prefer the lighter wheels and bigger tire look, plus the added traction is always good. It will look much better when I get the coilovers in and on it.
Last but not least I met up with a buddy Sat night and ran against his 2008 C63 that's supercharged by Weistec making around 550whp.

You know you aren't the first person to say that so I asked my soon to be tuner, Eurocharged, how to tell if it has been tuned. He says that all the big companies (Renntech, Weistec, Eurocharged etc) have to drill a hole in the ECU and then cap it with a rubber grommet. Therefore I checked and sent him this pic to confirm my car doesn't have a tune!

Thanks everyone! I'm very happy with the car and enjoying it to the fullest!
Today I managed to do an oil change, very cool factoid, the oil filter for Mercedes actually has an AMG stamp. Thought that was neat. I also managed to get the pesky resonator cut out and I also threw in some K&N air filters for good measure. Thanks to the straight pipe instead of the resonator the car sounds so much better! I can hear the turbos whistling distinctly.
Oh and those who are keen observers may notice I swapped over to some 305 Mickey Thompson Drag radials instead. I didn't like how the Hoosiers had super squishy sidewalls so the car would kind of wallow and if it rained I wouldn't be able to drive it.The Mickeys on the other hand are FAR better. Love them for daily use.
And here she is in my shop along with another cool AMG that stopped in for some work. The V12 is a beast but I prefer the V8TT without a doubt!

After all my thinking I decided that I wanted to have a local (somewhat local) tuner do an actual dyno tune on the car. I think that is always the best way to get the most power out of a setup in the conditions/fuel etc that it will be running in. I'm sure the flashes are good but are they really the best unless it's tailored for your specific car? That's how I looked at it anyway... Plus it helps for local event support in case any tweaks or extra help is needed.

With out a doubt I agree live tuning is the utmost best...If I was keeping my CLS63 and building it up, I would scoop up another ECU so I could switch between fuels..Pump on one and E85 on the other...I always wished that someone would come out with a better tuning advice like Cobb, Ecutek, etc...It would be great to have the ability to log, flex fuel, different maps, etc..
Fab up some mani's that will fit 5858 turbos and this car with the meats you have out back will be a beast..Would catch a bunch of car at TX2k off guard. haha...(the sub 1200hp cars)..

they drill, they dont drill...who the hell knows ...they say that dab paint on the drill hole to cover the hole....they say that open the ecu .........mystery mystery
not until someone sees a tune occur and post a video....who knows who knows

So, here are a few updates. The first exhaust shop didn't do a perfect job and it bothered me after I saw the exhaust tips were crooked and his welds were pretty crappy. I took it to the best exhaust shop in town (which I should have done first but I was impatient) and had him redo it. Now it's perfect.
I ran into a buddy with a modded 135i making 440whp, he jumped me on the second honk so I had to come around him which was no problem for the AMG!
Then the next day I went down to Eurocharged in Houston to get the car dyno tuned, here it is on the dyno for the stock pull.
Stock numbers:
Final numbers!
Eurocharged was very nice, they had some neat cars in the shop...
Then the first victim after my tune...

And to top it off it's an AWD dyno so it reads lower since the rear drum connects to the front drum via belt so it uses up whp... Should read about 20-30 whp/wtq more. But a number is just a number, I believe the real test is in how it runs against other machines with similar power and how drivability is affected if at all etc. So far I'm super impressed with the tune, no complaints at all.

NICE!!! Bet it feels good with the tires hooking..
BTW, did they mention anything about getting tuned for E85? Curious what the fuel system can sport on corn in this car..

Awesome!
Hi buddy, thats one awesome car! I was never a big fan of this model, but its grown on me and here in the UK you can pick them up fairly cheap - albeit totally stock! Thanks for all the posts, I would love a drive of your car.....and it would probably be worth the airfare!

nice vids.
what was the last race against? a corvette?(well the second last wasnt really a race, lol) sounded like an automatic... but didnt know they came in auto.
edit.. nm, just read "GS" in the title.. (grand sport?) i think even a stock cls63 should beat one of those? what do they have like barely 400 hp??
