Question about rear shocks

I need to replace my rear shocks I am not very familiar with all the components of this car but can someone confirm for me that the rear on the 2012 CLS 63 is airmatic therefor requires some sort of AIR SHOCK right?

an autoshop suggested me a set of nice bilstein shocks for cheap an it says it fits my car but it dawned on me that it should be an air shock right?

if its an air shock those are really expensive im assuming and I'm wondering where can i find it cheaper, used or aftermarket?

Why do you need to replace your rear shocks? The non amg CLS is full airmatic while the amg is springs in the front and airbags in the rear.

an auto shop diagnosed some suspension noises I've been having and say the rear shocks are bad amongst other things

but yeah with that being said is there some type of air shock? The bilstein is not an air shock so I'm curious why it says online that it'll fit

The rear shock is separated from the air spring bag. You can replace the shock made for your car and not touch the air spring.

thank you this is exactly the answer I was looking for but really wasnt sure

i just recently replaced both air springs now i need to change shocks i was assuming they would be air shocks since its an amg with the adjustable suspension settings. keep in mind im not experienced with these or their components but I will go with the bilsteins i found its good to know because they arent as expensive as oem
