Strange Bump on Side of Seat

I'm posting this for a friend/coworker with a 2012 CLS63. He recently noticed this bump on the side of the driver's seat that he hadn't noticed before despite owning the car for years. I'm guessing it's related to his inflatable seat (passenger side doesn't have it), but he doesn't think it has always been so noticeable.

Are any of you familiar with this? Thanks.

The CLS seats are supposed to respond to the vehicles turns by inflating and deflating the lumbar support to provide the same functionality as a racing seat. It looks as though his lumbar support is stuck inflated and is probably caused by a release valve that has malfunctioned and won't release the pressure from that position. I can't think of any other reason this would be showing through the leather like that unless there is some sort of padding that goes under the leather which has shifted or is worn out. Maybe someone else will chime in with a more accurate explanation but keep us posted on what you find out. Poor CLS63, tell the car I said get well soon... its always sad to see something wrong with this super car.

Also, this could possibly be the high-pressure tube that inflates the lumbar which has slipped out of its holding position. Ask your buddy if he still feels the lumbar inflate where it normally did prior to the obvious eyesore.

Looks like some sort of protruding bracket......hmmm, that's an odd one.
