Check Engine Light - throttle position sensor
I started my '13 CLS63 and the check engine light came on, and stayed on, despite a couple trips of 50+ miles. I stopped at Auto Zone since I always hear commercials about how they'll scan the code(s) free, along with many of the other large car parts stores. The code came back with "Throttle position sensor malfunction"... the guy at Auto Zone claimed that they didn't carry the part and that I needed to head to the MBZ dealer. After a quick google search I found a very helpful article and reset the throttle position sensor. Voila! The light is gone and the car is back to normal. Such a simple fix. I'm sure glad I didn't take it in.

- Turn the key to ON position. Position II that is. Don’t start the car.
- Press and hold the gas pedal for at least five seconds. Keep the pedal pressed.
- Turn ignition off but do not remove the key. Now release the gas pedal.
- Remove key. Wait a minute before you restart your Mercedes.
