2012 CLS 63, check engine light!

Almost 7 years with no issues! And now the dreaded CEL light has illuminated! Tried a few restarts to no avail! What OBD are you guys using for the CLS? Thanx in advance!

Although not a W218, I personally use a cheap OBD reader from eBay & "OBD Auto Doctor" for Android. Been 4 years now and it is working fine. Helped me a lot, provides much needed data.
My next step would be to get Star Diagnostic
I know that feeling when a CEL lights up...... scares the hell out of me. I hate when that happens.

Ended up going to advanced auto for a free (generic) scan. It did provide some stored codes: looks like I need an oxygen sensor so that's GOOD news

Rear o2 sensor

Out the door for 246.56, I was very happy with this.

Noice
Now, AFAIK the rear sensors don't have control over anything, it only monitors the efficiency of the catalysts. But the CEL can be so annoying & distracting. Price was good !

Any thoughts?

over three weeks ago I emailed the dealer to see if my ELW would cover this...........three weeks LOL!
After badgering the dude for the last couple of days I got an email back telling me it 'should' be covered but I'd have to come in, after the new year, to get a diagnosis, at a fee of 150 bucks, and if the sensor WAS
covered the 150 would be waived...........

Obviously I had it done already, BUT, what kind of CRAP is that?!

Anyone have any thoughts? Just wondering.............

Smog/emission components are covered up to 80k miles on these cars because they’re prone to early failure
