Headliner removal Question

I started working on my interior, but I'm having a problem with the headliner. I was told that the only way to take it out is to remove the windshield. Has anyone ever removed the headliner of a CLS?

Here is what was done so far.

in your Mom's car
That seems bogus. There was an episode of Unique Whips where they made the headliner suede and they did not take out the windshield.

Brent, I really don't think you have to remove the windshield. That sounds way more complicated than it should be.

I would assume as with most car a little bending slanting and should go out the front door without any creases..

x2, seen it done before

Just sucks on an older car, the headliner falls apart-- you should have no problem on your car, there are even specialized headliner shops (at least in my area)

Thanks guys! I think there was fear involved, and they wanted to avoid bending it. I was hoping that someone here had experience with doing them. Bending it slightly will have to do, because removing the windshield comes with a 90% chance of breaking it.

Thanks again guys!

All of them
No you do not have to remove the windshield. yes it would make it easier but you will break the glass 9 times out of ten when removing a windshield. you do have bend the headliner a lil bit to get it out and just lay the front seats all the way back and it will come out you can have it out in about 30 to 45 mins, pop the A, B and C pillars off and overhead control panel. four o sh#t handles and it will come down. in the back theres a hardcore plastic velcrow stick thing that you have to be carefull for, no worries though
