Ditto. BEWARE- I have an AMG license plate frame installed by the dealer that shakes every time the trunk slams. It has caused paint wear that will now require caring for.

is a key still in the car or a door open?

Ii think the lock button will close the trunk and lock the car. but if a key is in the car or in the trunk, it may not allow you to close the trunk because it can't lock the car?

Confirm. If the key is in your car or trunk it wouldn't lock. I did that a few times where I left the key in the trunk and trunk will pop back up again. Yes the trunk closes very hard unlike the CL I remember it closes lightly.

Asked while I was at the dealer the other day. There is no way to adjust it and they say mine "closes within specifications." Again, I caution anyone who has a metal license plate bracket that this may cause paint damage to the trunk lid under the plate.

If it opens as quickly as it closes then yes you can adjust it. At least on my e55. you would have to remove the trunk lining around where the trunk arms connect to the body. pm me if you need further info. I adjusted mine until it was just right for me. Essentially you adjust the tension in the spring which affects how fast it swings open and less noticeably how fast it closes.

Tension Spring

Hey, can you elaborate a bit more on how to fix this? Mine goes so fast. Tried to DM you, but don't have privileges yet.

If the key is in trunk and you hit the lock button it will still close (I've locked my keys in the trunk before, major PITA since you can't access the trunk through the cabin), key in the passenger cabin and it wont lock.

I have been having issues lately when hitting either the close or the lock button that the trunk will make a noise on the left side. Sometimes the trunk partially closes and reopens. Hit the button again right after and it closes as expected, quietly.

I'm not sure where to look for the noise to find some fix / resolution?

I remember reading something about a trick to get it to close softer. I believe it was in the W211 section...I will search for it as well

Nope, no luck yet

[edit]
The only thing I can find on short notice is the adjusting of both springs of the trunk as @nanayaw6 already mentioned
