CLS55 Front Left Airmatic Shock
Hey guys,
I've been hearing a noise coming from the front driver's side when going over bumps, it sounds like a knocking sound. I just bought the car less than 30 days ago, so of course I brought it back to the German Used Car dealer I bought it from, they told me this is normal for the airmatic suspension.
However, I took it to my MB dealer to have them take a look. They say the airmatic shock needs to be replaced and they quoted me $1260 to have it done. My SA told me that when they raise the suspension all the way the noise goes away.
Any advice?

You need to replace that thing ASAP because when you go over a bump the air leaves the bag and the only way to fill it back up is to hit the lift button (i believe) and you do not want to kill the tread on your tire. 1,260 with labor is not bad. I personally would not buy a rebuilt I know there is a company that makes these with a life time warranty for cheaper than the dealer price. around $600 but usually labor is going to put you upward of 1,000 for the job.

arnott shock replacement
I had same knocking sound in front suspension 2006 cls 55 amg... checked and replaced all worn ball joints and tie rods etc.. problem was the shocks... arnott remanu shocks are best for the $$$ not too difficult to replace.. Just like new now...

I just replaced mine on my CLS550. 40K miles and It was like driving with Ricky Ricardo playing his bongo. I got mine for 930.00 each and 180.00 installed. The gas charge has gone out and the are bottoming out. Replace them before the bag blows and your car drops.
