Rear differential/axle oil on a CLS55 AMG - which to buy?! DIY anywhere?

Hey guys,

Forgive me if this has already been covered and I completely missed it.
I searched thread after thread and even checked the MBworld wiki but it doesn't look like the W219 is even on there!?

Anyway, hoping you guys have some input on which rear differential oil to get for a CLS55 AMG? I recently did the tranny and motor oil and I'm wondering if I should/need to complete a differential oil drain and fill? I do not have an LSD / 030 package either.

If it's a good idea to go ahead and do it, which oil is recommended? I'd like to stick to MB recommended only but if you have a definite aftermarket oil then please fill me in. Is it 75w90 or 85w90?

Also, is it 2-3 qts, or 1-2? I just want to be prepared. I also can't find a DIY on this either. Would searching the E55 forums help?

Anyone?

Was going to get this: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/m...zoneAssigned=1

But I'm wondering if i should just stick to MB 85w90. Lots of discussions about this but no real solutions. Some people say it'll be fine one way or the other. Just hoping for some input. A DIY would be amazing, if there isn't one, then I guess I might just have to make one

M.B. Says 85w90 and it isn't kidding. I recently changed mine and I got the oil from EBay in the original bottles. It has to meet 235.7 specs and the autozone 75w90 doesn't do it. Mercedes actually has a sub-site on the Mercedes site where you can plug in your oil to see if it meets spec. Also make sure you car doesn't have the 030 package because that may be different. DIY is straight forward. Make sure you get the top plug open before you open the bottom one. Two bottles is enough and you fill until it starts to run out the top plug. But use the right fluid or you'll wish you had.
