New owner CLS63, exhaust mods?
First AMG vehicle just happened last Saturday, loving it so far, coming from a CLK500 with mufflers and resonator delete, naturally it sounds much more quiet, often I glance at the speedo in disbelief, there's very little sense that it's happening to that extent haha, I'm looking for a nice deep rasp from the AMG trumpets, so a few questions.
Are the mufflers the same as C63 mufflers? The C sounds louder stock to me, but that's maybe because it's shorter? I hear that the mufflers are actually designed to improve the sounds rather than muffle it so much, so would straight piping those bits be pointless/make it sound worse? Would the following setup wake it up a little?: from the primary cats to the mufflers, straight pipes with X-pipe? Does anyone have any builds or sound clips with what they had done? Thanks happy motoring.

Thanks for the reply, I got the secondary cats and resonator deleted last week, just left in the single crossover where the secondary cats were and it sounds totally amazing.

Hey Hunnit, Thanks a bunch for posting that video clip. I was thinking seriously about doing the resonator delete, but was afraid of the exhaust getting too raspy. I know how opinions vary about what sounds good and what doesn't, I like louder - with more rumble, but don't like the rasp if it's coming from my car. Seems like the resonators tame that rasp a bit.
Thanks again for the video.

throw all of it out, cats and everything. Your neighbors will shudder with fear every time you turn it on. Beware of the increase in speeding fines, and find as many tunnels as you can.
Trust me its worth it.

will be going catless as well eventually, plan is Eurocharged or MSL fitting headers and a tune.

i have mbh long tube headers, mide pipe, and meisterschaft race mufflers. thats it. no cats, no resonators.
IT SOUNDS EPIC...
If you go the header route, definately check out MBH, 100% worth the price.

I've had resonator delete, upgraded X-pipes and electronic cut out valves fitted to bypass the rear boxes giving me a straight pipe sound at the flick of a button. Sounds amazing but couldn't drive it constantly as you would get a head ache haha. Once I get some proper footage on YouTube with my GoPro I will post how it sounds. It hits over 90 decibels at 3000 rpm and pops
