CLS 63 Transmission failing to shift
I have had my car since 6800 miles. The last week for the first time it has stuck in fourth gear on one occasion and then on another occasion after stopping at a traffic light stuck in neutral. Both times I have turned the car off and re-started it and it then worked fine. Any suggestions? Is the TCI going bad or need to be re-flashed? Or is it something else

For the 7speed, valve body is common problem. Do some research... the part is not expensive but the programming is more complicated.

So finally tired of dealing with this problem. Took it to my Indie mechanic bee reputable shop here in town btw. He puts it on star diagnostic and tells me that it is a turbine speed sensor part that is part of the conductor plate. Says they cannot do the repair because they are not bonded with Mercedes and MB considers it a possible theft item and unless they carry a 2million dollar bond Mercedes will not sell the conductor plate part to them. Anyone ever hear of this? I understand that the Trans issue is either the conductor plate and or valve body.

So now I get the estimate. The Mercedes dealership quoted 1672.00 to replace and reprogram the conductor plate. Mercedes makes it very difficult to want to own a Mercedes in the future.

Well bit the bullet and had the dealership replace the conductor plate. Now have a one year warranty. Still a little chapped that the dealership must do it because they will not sell the conductor plate to indie mechanic without the bond and also had to program it because it is unique to the trans. If anyone understands otherwise certainly reply to help others get the repair without the same expense and had.

That's nonsense. You can buy the conductor plate all over eBay from MB dealers. I have purchased 2 one for my truck and one for my car. My guess is your indie didn't want the hassle of doing transmission work. But there is NO BONDING that's garbage. I did my vehicles each for transmission fluid, the conductor plate the connector gasket and filter for under 500.00 a car. Glad you did get fixed.
