Saying Goodbye to CLS55

Guys; my 2006 CLS55 was in an accident, and will be totaled out. It had 158k miles on it and still rode great!

I haven't been active on this forum for some years. I have owned my CLS55 for over 9 years, and know a lot about the car, repairs, costs, parts that will fail, "what would make this sound" advise, etc. So feel free to ask away over the next few weeks before I sign off permanently.

I have the option of keeping the car and parting it out but don't have the time or space right now.

Also, I have some parts and accessories in the garage that I will sell for CHEAP or give away depending on demand. I'll let you all know shortly.

It's been a fun ride.

Man thats a shame! Glad your alright from the crash.

I just picked up a cls55 with P030 a few months back at 103k and have done a bunch to bring it up to spec like new steering rack, power steering pump, engine and trans mount, rear main seal, plugs and wires, trans flush, pilot bushing, all the control arms up front on both sides, coolant flush, upgraded Bosch 010 pump

Still have to do valve covers, and front rotors and pads, brake fluid flush, blower fan, upgraded UPD 5 set pullies, ac compressor & alternator (preventive), batteries front and back

What else did you have to do at your mileage? Wheel bearings? Alternator? Ac compressor? Drive shaft support bearing? Flex discs? Im hoping to drive up to 150k and then sell.

And what parts you got on sale?

Cheers

Sorry for your loss man...

I know the pain of losing a car that you're not ready to get rid of. Especially if you recently did anything to it to make it last longer.

Going for another AMG when the insurance dust settles?

Turns out most parts were mysteriously gone after various moves. This is all I have ...

1) Bluetooth Interface Module (puck): B6 787 5878 -- $100
(it worked with my iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 6, and recently 6s)

2) Verde Parrallax Wheels -- $400
Manufacturer Part #s: Front = V39-984430S; Rear = V39-994436S
Size: Front = 19X8.5; Rear = 19X9.5
Finish: Painted Matte Silver; Machined Spokes and Lip
Lug Pattern: 5X112
Offset: Front = +30; Rear = +36
Bore: 66.6mm
Condition: Excellent; like new but dirty! Was used as backups whenever my original wheels were getting straightened or refinished; has less than 25 miles on them.

Free:

3) AMG chrome license plate holder

4) Kensun Xenon HID Conversion Kit; Slim Digital Ballasts; H7; 5000k
(
Amazon Amazon
)
I used them to experiment when my MTech kit went out

5) Other misc bulbs; will send with the Kensun kit

6) Break wear sensors; qty=3: 2115401717
(the dealer gave them back to me after replacing the pads/rotors; b/c the pads came with their own set)

7) First aid kit (the one that came with the car; located under passenger front seat compartment)

8) Nav DVD 2006.2 (original disc): A211 827 9659 (or BQ 6 46 0223)

Everything is free except the first 2 items (Wheels and Bluetooth puck).

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Nope; no more AMGs for me in the near future. The quality and reliability needs to improve. The engine, transmission, and brakes were rock solid and never failed or needed repairs. But, the suspension (pretty much every suspension component; multiple times) and electronics required way too many repairs.

The driving experience was priceless. The ownership experience was a mixed bag due to all the repairs needed.
