Project CLS550 bringing an 08 AMG back to life!

Well I've always been a fan of the CLS and found a great deal on an AMG with 83k miles for less than the costs of high end brakes! The car doesn't look like much and has some damage to the front, side, and rear, but nothing major. Most importantly after a quick checkup from my mechanic it seems I only need rotors and breaks and a seal or 2 replaced so I'm excited it doesn't need any engine work (so far).

Here are a few pics of the car at the yard before I got it.

Anyone have suggestions on a good rotor break set? I may do all 4 even though the front only needs breaks and the back only needs rotors. Also has anyone upgraded bumpers to those "Duraflex" ones? There is a local shop that sells them for a few hundred each, but it seems they need a lot of "adjusting" to fit right and may crack easily because they are a fiberglass blend.

Hate to break this to you, but that's not an AMG. Someone just slapped that badge on there. It's just a standard CLS550.

The only AMG ones were the CLS55 and CLS63.

My parts are very durable but do require a body shop familiar with custom body & paint. This is not for the collision center or the dealer to install.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. But if it's a legitimate question, yes, you were ripped off.

Does your radio display AMG when you turn it on? Doesn't matter, I toggled mine so it does and mine's a plain CLS550.

Yeah I got burned for sure! Had I know it wasn't an AMG I wouldn't have paid more than $2500, but I went all the way up to $5 because I thought it was

That sucks.

This is just one example why I hate it when people put AMG badges on non-AMG cars.

At least it sounds like you still got an ok deal on the car even with the work it needs. Cheap ones with higher miles are still going for $10k+ around here and nice ones are $17k+.

Sort of forgot about this thread, but here is a pic. Didn't do a wrap since I couldn't find anything less than 2k so I just got it painted and get new wheels / tires instead. Total spent was just under $7500.
