Rev limiter on CLS55 AMG?

Rev limiter on CLS55 AMG?
Hi Everyone?
I got my second hand CLS55 AMG since a week now and I tried to Rev the car so my friends can hear the sound but it doesnt go above 3,000RPM on P and N.
What a shame for this kind of car... But I have been told that's a security to avoid any damage to the kompressor?
Is that correct? Has anyone removed the Rev limiter?
