White Oil Can / Temp Guage Dash light

1) White dash icon with temp guage rising out of oil can comes on when car is started; uncertain whether it disappears when car warms up b/c I'm not sure if I should drive car with the light on. Please advise.
2) Nothing at all about the icon in owner's manual as far as I am aware; is a definitive source, either digital or hard copy, available for a fee?
