Thumbs up Real Life CLS55 AMG Sighting

Hello guys,

Been a long while since I last posted on the lovely mbworld forums. I am back with something new.
I am currently in St. Tropez (South of France) passing a nice vacation and all of a sudden while I was having a walk by the beautiful boats at the seaport I saw a BRAND NEW CLS55 AMG. At first when I saw the images of the CLS55 AMG on the internet I was more like hating it than loving it. But when I saw this BEAUTIFUL car in real life I can tell you all that I changed my mind completely to the point that I am REALLY thinking of ordering one.

It seems to me that the car was there for the official photo shoot by the way.

Enjoy,

P.S. All of the images posted here are originally taken with a resolution of 12 Megapixels. I will put them online later when I return to Geneva.

the shape reminds me of the current x-type jaguar... not sure if I like the look of the cls... it will probably grow on me, however.

You're still thinking of ordering one??? You should go to the nearest MB dealer as soon as you get back to Geneva :p

Welcome back and thanks for the beautiful pics!!!

I was very busy lately. I was working most of the time and didn't have much time to contribute to the forums. But I feel great that I am back finally.
My stable is still as it is except for a 2004 CL500 which was delivered to me last November. I am really thinking though about adding that beautiful CLS.

A lot. I was trying to take as much pictures as possible because there was already the official team surronding the car to take the shoot. Eventually, I managed to go around the truck to its right and take a couple of images of the front. I also remained there until they finished and took some more pictures while the car was leaving the famous seaport.

Ha ha ha. You wouldn't believe it but I did already call the MB dealer in Geneva. They assured me that I can take delivery by the end of Feb 2005.

2007 ML350 Sport Package
does anyone else see the same lines as in the maybach? (that's not necessarily a bad thing)

yeah I'm not sure about the headlights either

Also it sure looks as though interior space would be much smaller than the e55

still...an eye-catching car...I'd take one

Civic coupe?

I am always amazed by the kind of cars being compared in these forums. I guess I just don't see these resemblances...

Anyway, I am glad I have one on order. I think this car looks very sleek (thinking of Pewter) and yet is a very practical sedan. So far I have heard that the car has a large interior and actually a useful rear area with good headroom. It is larger than the E-class and the interior should be about the same.

I sat in a CLS500 during the Geneva Car Show last March. From the inside it is more or less an E-Class but concerning the space, well, I can tell you it is not like the E-Class in some aspects. It is a bit tight on legroom and average on headroom for the people sitting at the back. However, when you sit in the front you will feel like sitting in the comfort of an E-Class without any doubts.

I will post some pictures of the Geneva Car Show when I return to Geneva. I have pictures inside out of the green CLS that was there.

Since the cars can't be ordered/tracked through the system in the US I have only an estimate: May 05

Nasharty: do you still have that webpage with all the pictures of your E55? I remember you took many photos of the various options that it came with.

St. Tropez is beautiful. I am not staying there by the way, I am in fact touring the whole coast on a yacht and St. Tropez was one of the places that I wanted to check out because the last time I was there was more than a year ago. But I must say that I am VERY LUCKY because I arrived there when the CLS was just arriving for its photo shoot and it left in exactly 20mins later.

I have one major concern about the CLS...that little window in the rear. I have seen photos of the door open with the big window down and that little panel window is sticking up. Looks terrible and what a clothes catcher or worse that will be. Anyone know if the final will have that window go down or eliminate it all together?

Thanks Nasharty for the great "real world" photos. I think that pushed me into going to the CLS AMG straight from my '01 E55. I like the style of the CLS, only needing a dark tint on the windows (very necessary in Arizona) to give it a very sleek profile.

...quick, cheap photochop to show final idea.
