TPMS battery replace?
I've tried searching, and all I've found is a Corvette owner that has done this. Has anyone tried replacing the battery in a TPM? The battery is usually a $2 unit that can easily be purchased online or even in some stores. The TPM has to be cracked open, then the battery replaced.
I realize these are sealed units (all TPM are). The operation would be similar to replacing the battery cells in a laptop battery or even a power tool battery.
As with all new technical advances, it seems the sensors cause more headaches/cost than the parts they monitor.
Here's part 1 of 4 on youtube of the corvette owner:

Hm, quite a few views, no takers.
If anyone is interested in donating a set of dead tpm in the name of science let me know. I'd like to rip a couple open (first would be destroyed), and hopefully successfully throw some new batteries inside. I'll document my progress if I come across a set of dead ones off someones old wheels (w210, w211, w212, w220, r230) 315mhz.
