Akebono pads questions
Hi, I got a set of Akebono pads. The pads seem like come with the back metal plate but I am not sure if I should just dump the existing one and just use the one already on the pad or put the old plate on top of the new one.
Also, the instruction from Akebono indicates that there is a protective film on the noise insulator. I assume the noise insulator is the back plate but I don't see any protective film. Does anyone have any experience with these pads?
Thanks.
Top: Front Pad.
Lower left: plate remove from the new pad.
Lower right: old plate.
Rear Pad seems have a plate on it already.

2003 ML 500
I see you posted question in September. I have a ML500 and usually stick to that area (W163). Anyway, the black medal plate in box with the pads is a shim or insolator, used to keep the brakes quite. Should be attached to all four discs. Usually come that way when purchased.
