V12 with New Tires and Crappy Wheels ... HELP ME, PLEASE
Just drove home my first Mercedes! Started big with an '01 CL600 V12 (W215) with about 110,000 miles. Amazing power!
The Good: There are four (almost) new Continental Extreme Contact tires on there.
The Bad: The wheels are so bent up and damaged that they won't hold air for more than a day or two.
My Goal: Replace the whees. Remount the tires. Drive all over the Texas hill country.
My Trouble: I am not finding a set of staggered wheels who's specs exactly match what I've got now.
What I Want: Confirmation that I can go up or down a half inch on the wheel width, or down a couple points in the offset, and not screw it all up.
Currently On the Front: Tires-245/35 ZR20 Wheels-20x9 J ET37
Currently On the Back: Tires-285/30 ZR20 Wheels-20x10 J ET40
Question 1: Can I substitute 20x8.5s for the 20x9s on the front and still use those tires?
Question 2: Can I substitute 20x10.5s for the 20x10s on the back?
Question 3: Does a lower offset number (say going with ET 35s on the front rather than the current ET37s) simply mean the tire will protrude further out from the body?
Pardon my ignorance.
Thanks.
