Anyone can help with shock absorber part number ?

Hi All,

I am out of resources...
I am trying to track down my shock absorber part number using , among others :
https://webcat.zf.com/ , pelicanparts.com, fcpEuro and many others
But I cant find it. All I can find are sellers, selling it as used parts.

The label on the front shock absorber is A212 320 88 38 and the one on the rear is A2043260598

All get is for front : https://www.varaosahaku.fi/fi-en/Sea...212-320-88-38/

For rear : https://www.proxyparts.com/car-parts...artid/9229180/

My car is Indonesian assembled W212 facelift , E400, year 2014. Not 4Matic, just RWD and 3 liter bi turbo M276 Dela 30 engine.
I think being a 3rd world country market, I think I get weird old part numbers on the car ... LOL. I dont even get reverse camera or massage seat. There is no customization, you buy what MB Indonesia sell as-is.

Front Shock/Strut

rear shock

Why I need to track these two numbers down is for upgrading to Bilstein B4 or B6 and I don't want to buy the wrong Part Number Bilstein.

If my original shocks are from SACHS, probably I will go for Bilstein B4.
If my original shocks are from Bilstein which is most cases it will be a B4 equivalent, I will go for B6.

I can't use USA VIN code tracker, but able to use this one https://www.datamb.com/ and my suspension is supposedly 677 AVANTGARDE/STANDARD SUSPENSION
I do not know how accurate the www.datamb.com is, but it got this wrong : 297 ELECTRIC ROLLER SUN BLINDS IN REAR DOOR LH AND RH << mine is manual hand operated, not electric.

If anyone can show me a way to track these 2 part numbers and get the latest or renewed P/N for the shocks, I can then check with Bilstein database, which for now do not indicate those two weird
part numbers compatibility..... I will be most grateful.

Thanks in advance.

I think "W212" F&R OEM shocks comes as "SACHS,,

*Front shock #: "212 323 68 00".

*Rear shock #: "212 320 46 30".

Thanks Zayed.
I really want to see my front shock absorber A212 320 88 38 and my rear A2043260598 being on a well known supplier database and linked/referenced to a new number, since those are the actual numbers
on my E400 shock's. I need to import them from overseas, so I can't make mistake.

Still, thanks again for your help.

Any time bro.,

I believe those #s you provided are the factory #s,,

the last updated #s are these which i stated above..!,,

for more confirmation, you can go to near dealer or reliable shop near you, and give them your VIN #,,

it will be easier to figure out..

Yes, I am checking too with MB Indonesia authorized dealer. Hopefully on Monday they can solve my mystery
My second post was missing something : "I need to import them from overseas, so I can't make mistake." << I mean the Bilstein B4 or B6.
Thank you

Hi Zayed,

I have not heard back from MB Indonesia authorized workshop on my dampers thingy.
But I was using your recommended part numbers, on this website : https://mercedes.7zap.com/en/eu/fg/c.../32/0/054/0/0/
for front A 212 323 68 00 and interesting to see that 677 avant garde/standard suspension mentioned.
Interesting to see that there are a few suspension option 482 being high ground clearance, what E class W212 is that ?
485 being comfort suspension. 486 being sport suspension. 488 being sport chassis tuning. 489 easy to understand since airmatic dual control mentioned.
Man... its a mine field

Bilstein website showed the compatible ones, http://web1.carparts-cat.com/default...01&14=4&12=130
Surely if B4 a 24-194107 front and B4 a 24-194129 rear is not for my E400.

Now all I need to do is to actually get a confirmation if my current installed units are SACHS or Bilstein, if that is even possible.
If Sachs are installed, B4 is what I may choose. Since most people said that B4 is a bit stiffer than Sachs.
My roads are so bad here in many places, I am afraid B6 may be too jarring.

If B4-s are what I currently have, I am willing to venture to B6-s.

Thanks again....

Yeah, you are 100% correct,

There are around (14) different part # of "W212/S212" Front & Rear shocks, depend of car spec. & shock style,

but mostly OEM shocks comes as "Sachs",

Bilstein offers (3) differ shock stiffness optional as "B4/B6/B8/B12/B16",,

can simply choose any of these nice shocks..

Hi Zayed,

To update you. Indeed Mercedes Indonesia gave the new part numbers exactly like what you passed me...awesome , thanks to you.
However they can not confirm if my current dampers are SACHS or Bilstein.

I managed to get a local source of B6, but year of manufacturer is 2014, so no go.
I contacted USA https://www.truckspring.com/ , no stock and Bilstein USA delivery date to them are :
35-166863 early- September
24-166874 end of- October holy cow

Even B4 series, the rear one is 24-194112 mid-September, front one lead time 14 days, Bilstein USA got them.
If I can't solve the SACHS or Bilstein on my current set up, I might need to buy both B4 and B6 series and experiment with them.
The B4 is cheap, fortunately.

I would also like to share with you and the forum, the E400 corner weight, just in case someone may need it and I too want to re-measure when B4 or B6 Bilstein are installed.

Corner Weight E400-W212.065 Rear Wheel Drive - Right Hand Drive

The scale used is Gen 1 Longacre Accuset. I borrowed from my friend.

Gen 1, Accuset. Longacre
