Please help! Will these fit my '00 S class?

Two questions, would greatly appreciate your response, guys.

1: I have a 2000 S class, and was wondering if the new SL rims would fit. They are the turbine style, and I think they come with the AMG kit. They are 255/40 ZR 18 in the front and 285/35 ZR 18s in the back. Would they fit my S-class? Any problems I might face?

2: Also, a buddy of mine was wondering if he can put the tires from the above rims and put them on his S-class AMG package rims (the 18's)... I think they have 265's in the back and are also skinnier in front (the sport package ones for the 2000 s class), so it wouldnt be a perfect match, but you guys know more.

Please respond!!! Thanks.

285's will fit 100% fine on a s-class.

thanks a lot... there would be no other problems, right? im just asking because someone i know said the 5 lug from the SL is different from the 5 lug on the S... i dont know what the hell that means i think he's full of it, but i wanted confirmation before buying.

Also, if you guys can answer q #2 that would be great.

Thanks for the response!!

while the tire might fit fine and the wheel will bolt up (5x112), be sure to check the offset. If it's dramatically different, you're likely to need a spacer. Look on the back of your wheels and you'll find the offset as a two-digit number following the "ET", same thing on the SL wheels, but they'll be different offsets front and back.

The five lug pattern is the same on virtually all MBZ cars, 5x112.

As to your 2nd question, if I understand it correctly there shouldn't be any problem putting those tires on the other 18" wheels. FYI you can check lots of this yourself by going to tire rack's site, put in the tire size you're wondering about, select the specific tire model in the resulting list, then click on the specs tab. That will show you rim width requirements as specified by the tire manufacturer, and then you'll know for sure whether the rim is too wide, too narrow or, as Goldilocks might say, "just right". Okay that was lame. :o

Problem is that I have the stock 16's still on the S class, so I cant tell what the offset is. I can find out the offset for the SL 18's in a couple of days, but if anyone knows off the top of your head that would be great (for either the '00 stock 16's on the S or the 18's on the SL)... I'm trying to buy these tomorrow so I need to hurry... I really appreciate the responses...

I called two dealers and MB's central # and nobody is picking up. One lady said she doesnt think they'll fit.

From the MB website, they seem to refer to the 5 spoke swirly wheels I'm looking to buy as turbine (with the amg or sport package on SL)... are the 20 spoke (or however many they have) also considered turbine?

anyway, would LOVE to find out ASAP if the 285/35/18r 255/40/18f wheels from the '05 SL500 woudl fit my '00 S class... dying to find out!

a guy is also trying to sell me his set from the sl500, this would also be for my 2002 s500. I've talked to two MB dealers, and they said that I would need spacers..SL's have 25mm offset, while the S wheels have 44mm offset. They strongly not recommend the work. hope this would help with your decision, as it sure had with mine.

the simple answer is NO they will not fit and I don't care what dealership A or B says
