aftermarket springs + amg shocks = blown shocks?

will amg shocks with eibach or H&R springs blow after a few thousand miles? i know lowering your car with springs and stock shocks would do that, but what about with amg shocks?

I thought you were thinking of the Cup Kit, then decided to go for the Coilovers? How come all of a sudden you are heading back to stock shocks + aftermarket springs??? Whats so good about this combination?

How can you tell if your shocks are blown out? I recently lowered my car with H&R's and I am scraping the front bumper (not rubbing the wheel well). This happened a few times b4 I lowered my car, but I havent figured out what is going on. I am under the impression that my shocks are bad. Any ideas?

good question chow

my brother and i are looking into h&R or eibach springs for my 280, but i'm not sure whether or not i should get some shocks while i'm at it.
if anyone has any comments on this, they would be greatly appreciated.
thanks much.
btw, where are all the female benz tuners hiding?
or are there any?

You can get at least 50,000 miles, but it comes down to your driving style. For me, 45,000 of those miles would have to be in a trailor. The ride is also much better with an aftermarket shock, better suited for the lower-stiffer setup.

Question

on a CLK I believe that the AMG shocks are a little shorter then the normal stock shocks....if this is the case, and AMG shocks will blow out with H&R springs, is the same true for Kleemann shocks? The Kleemann springs are a .75 inch drop so that is similar to the CLK55 and I presume the their shocks are mated with the springs. If all holds true, why would the Kleemann shocks not blow out with the H&R Springs?

thanks...

Are your guards rolled, or is it rubbing where the plastic front bumper section meets the front guard at the wheel arch? If so I had this problem on my E55 and ended up having the guard slightly pulled out to stop this happening.

I am not sure of the source of my rubbing. I have been looking and looking all over the place especially the wheel well. I am not too sure what you mean by the front guard on the wheel arch. Nothing looks out of the ordinary, but there are scratches on the bottom of my front spoiler / bumper, the section under my fog lights. I am guessing this is the source of the scraping, but my car rides fine (it doesn't dive far when I brake or bounce much, so I think my shocks are ok for now). I cannot tell for sure.

Any ideas besides going to my local shop?

Thanks in advance
