Wheel refinishing fiasco...
Some preface: this is a new AMG rim with about 300 miles on it. OUCH.
So in it goes.
And back it comes - looks like some kid with a can of silver spray paint went over the scratche area. But wait, it gets better, the paint ran/crawled like it does when you do too heavy of a coat!
Back it goes.
Back it comes - same thing. I am getting incredulous about this - but the dealer is being very polite and sends it to a second place. (supposedly)
Back it comes. This time, same thing, but all over. In between spokes the paint is lumpy. There are fabric hairs in the finish. AND this is the best part - the color is WRONG!!!! The wheel is 15% darker than the others.
So off it goes again.
What should I do at this point? I feel like this wheel's been beat to death. I don't know if they ever stripped the wheel or just coated it over and over. What should I do? Obviously coated over and over = bad and extra weight. Also obviously constant stripping must have removed metal - did it weaken the wheel?
Do I have the right to ask for a new wheel?
Anyone have a similar experience?
Thanks for reading.
