Luke, I've been asked this question quite a few times....
and I dont know the answer....is there any problem with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System for people getting bigger wheels on their W211 or W220?

while it is possible to upgrade the wheels and tires on cars with a tire pressure monitoring system not all wheels accept the sensor mounting correctly.
The angle of the valve hole and the relief area that is machined into the wheel is not always compatible. There are 3 major suppliers of these types of system to automotive manufacturers; Beru, Schader & Pacific and several other lower teir companies for aftermarket systems. Mercedes uses the Beru ( pronounced "bay-roo" ) system There are several different versions of the sensor with dramitcally different MgHz frequencies and all of the different sensors require the use of different vavle assemblies which are also different. Many people have used wheels that do not have the correct relief area and or valve angle in the past only to cause sensor failure and at over $120.00 each ( and alot more from a Mercedes dealership ) it can be a very costly mistake. |
