Aftermarket 1-Piece Rotors on W205?
Has anyone used 1-piece front brake rotors on a W205? I am replacing front brakes on a 2018 C300 commuter car, due to a shudder issue. I got a great deal on some PowerStop OE replacement rotors, but they are a solid casting, instead of the OEM bimetal (2-piece) type. Even though the OEM rotor hat/bell is steel, the material in the PowerStop "hat" is about 4mm thicker and the rotor weighs 1.4 lbs more than stock. I am not sure whether the increase in rotating mass could cause issues with the wheel hub/steering components. Then I realized that different tires may have greater variation in weight than the 1.4 lbs in the rotor. I may be overthinking this as usual, but I would welcome any input from those with experience with aftermarket rotors.
I have also considered turning the OE rotors with about 32mm thickness on them, but unsure if that would make any sense, compared to replacement.
