Different sized tires on same sized rims

Different sized tires on same sized rims
Is there any reason why I can't put different sized tires on the same sized rims front to rear, if the tires fit?
For instance, if I have nine inch rim all round can I put a 245 tire on the front and a 275 on the rear?
