Mercedes-Benz C-Class: How to Remove Center Console Trim
For the Mercedes-Benz C-Class w205, removing the center console trim isn't as difficult as it looks. Learn how to do it yourself by reading this article.
This article applies to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class w205 (2014-Present).
The stock center console assembly on your w205 looks and feels great. However, if the touchpad gets damaged or if you've found a center console trim more appealing to the eye, swapping to a new one is a simple task. The following instructions are all you need to remove the center console trim in your Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It's easy, quick, and inexpensive.
Materials Needed
- Trim removal tool
- Torx screwdriver
Step 1 – Remove the center console lower trim
Open the center console glove compartment. Behind the touchpad you can see the lower trim, which looks like a silver miniature handle. Push down the rectangular button as you use a trim removal tool to pry out the trim from inside the glove box area.
Step 2 – Pry out the center console trim
Once the lower trim is removed, you now have access to the screws holding the center console trim in place. Remove both screws with a Torx screwdriver, and set them aside. Then, gently pull up the trim with your hands, starting with the side closer to the glove box. Do not completely remove the trim as there are wire harnesses still attached.
Step 3 – Disconnect the wire harnesses
Carefully rotate the center console trim to reveal the wire harness connectors on the back of it. Pull out three connectors from behind the climate control switches. Lastly, pull out one connector from behind the touchpad. You have now successfully removed the center console trim in your w205.
