Wagon fans rejoice

The evolved fifth-generation E-Class will bring a host of exciting technologies to market. But for those ardent followers of the three-pointed star, who are dedicated family people and don’t want to buy into the SUV lifestyle, there is stupendously good news. Mercedes-Benz is producing a wagon configuration of the new E-Class. And not only does it look great, it also has some all-terrain driving features.

That classic E-Class wagon profile

Since 1946 Mercedes-Benz has sold 14m of its E-Class models.  And perhaps the star of the new 2021 model year update, could be the E-Class all-terrain wagon. If you desire all the space and practicality of an SUV, without the higher center-of-gravity and some of those bold styling proportions, the E-Class all-terrain is an exercise in stylish subtlety.

A perfectly proportioned wagon shape

Wagon fans love the rear three-quarter view of their favorite vehicle body type and new E-Class certainly does not disappoint. The all-terrain wagon has a wonderfully shaped rear section, integrating the elongated roofline and tailgate in a way that adds to the stylish overall E-Class design. Redesigned taillights anchor the rear view and there is no doubt that in a world of SUVs, you’ll definitely be a distinguished individual in your E-Class all-terrain wagon.

A straight-six with intent

Powering the E-Class all-terrain wagon is Mercedes-Benz’s potent 3-liter six-cylinder engine. It features an in-line configuration, turbocharging and the EQ Boost mild hybrid system. That means that an integrated start-alternator system adds additional power when required. Outputs are very generous, with 362hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, which is sure to mean that even fully laden, this wagon will never be short of overtaking performance. A nine-speed automatic transmission splits the six-cylinder engine’s torque to all four wheels.

Three-spoke helm and many pixels

The E-Class all-terrain cabin features Mercedes-Benz’s latest suite of advanced digital assistance systems. That means you benefit from MBUX infotainment, relayed through a 12.3-inch touchscreen, whilst the driver harvests information from a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation binnacle. Adaptive cruise control, active steering assistance and autonomous raking make this a very safe wagon for the diligent Mercedes-Benz family motorist.

An authentic adventure wagon

The deep appeal of this E-Class station wagon is undoubtedly its gravel road ability. If you seek an adventure vehicle which is not an SUV, this is your solution. It rides on an air-suspension system, which balanced passenger comfort with handling stability on rougher roads and over challenging terrain. The 19-inch wheels are also shod with run-flat tires, to keep you going even if there is a puncture. And best of all, there is the body cladding, which keeps your E-Class all-terrain wagon from scratching its paintwork, around all those areas where you can encounter kinetic stone chip strikes on a gravel road.

Fill that tailgate and go exploring

Although SUVs remains incredibly popular, Mercedes-Benz s recognizing that some of its loyal customers prefer the brand’s cleverly conceived station wagons. With the new E-Class all-terrain, Mercedes-Benz is combining an ability to venture off-road, without compromising the traditional luxury car appeal of the E-Class sedan and station wagon platform. Especially in terms of daily drivability.
