AMG Black Series Celebration
Alex Goy Plays With the Most Hardcore Black Series Mercs on a Racetrack. And We Can’t Help but Be Jealous
When seeking a track-focused Mercedes with gobs of horsepower, look immediately towards anything with a “Black Series” badge on it. Only five cars have ever been graced with AMG’s purest moniker. There’s the monster SLK; the twitchy and hilarious CLK; the Turbo V12 superpower SL; the GT3 RS-fighting C; and the gull-wing SLS supercar.
Fortunately for us, in this video, Carfection gets their hands on three of the five German rarities. They track a CLK 63 AMG Black Series, a C 63 AMG Black Series, and an SLS AMG Black Series.
Each of these three are powered by the same big, roaring, naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8. It makes around 500 horsepower in the more upright coupes, and a mega 622 horsepower in the SLS. Thanks to that shared engine, these cars all boast a gloriously-riotous exhaust note.

Most noteworthy, each of these cars has been made more raw, more rugged, and more driver focused for the ultimate track experience. Weight has been lost, power has been bumped, and creature comforts have been minimized. As Alex puts it, these cars got “the good s***”.
Now, if you think you have what it takes to wrestle one of these beasts around a track (particularly a wet one, as shown in the video), you likely have more talent (or perhaps less brains) than we do. We sure would like the opportunity to scare ourselves a bit, though.
