AmmmmmG: W204 C63 Basks in V8 Glory

Like the manual transmission, naturally aspirated V8 cars are getting harder and harder to find. One of the biggest complaints from Mercedes-Benz and AMG fans in the past couple years is that the companies have been moving on from natural engines in cars like the SLS and the C-Class, and dropping turbos into the bays.

This particular C63, which is being tested by YouTube reviewer Road Untraveled, is equipped with the AMG Development Pack, so its 6.2-liter V8 is putting out 481 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Not that the power in this thing was ever an issue. If anything, the ride comfort was suspect (though, it shouldn’t be judged as such, because it’s a sports coupe that isn’t aimed to be your daily pillow on wheels). BUT, the reviewer actually says that in Comfort Mode, he’s pretty happy with the C63. So take that, haters!

Road Untraveled makes it clear that the car has a couple of distinct personalities: “It is just powerful enough, it is just stiff enough, it is just driver-focused enough that it’s exciting when you want it to be exciting,” he says. “It’s not exciting all the time, in fact, this car can be very boring when you’re just kind of driving around town.”

Check out the rest of his thoughts on the German muscle below, then let us know your own impressions.
