The BMW Fanboyhood Is Strong With This One

Rivals know no love, and some just have to put it all on display. A description of a BMW with a very specific license plate, AMG LOL, showed up on the MBWorld forums recently. As you might have guessed, it got people talking about stereotypes of what people drive what cars, and how intense the fanboys really get.

Here’s how the story of the license plate was brought up, according to member jahquan3:

“I was right behind him so I started LOL and hitting the steering wheel to show him I was laughing out loud HA HA. Then he takes off but it’s not the kind of highway that you can really speed much on so eventually I end up right behind him without really trying and I proceeded to LOL even more. … It was priceless. If anyone lives in the Bergen County area of NJ (Paramus specifically) you might have seen this same dude. The hate must be real to put that on your license plate. I wonder is it really that serious that BMW and MB guys dislike each others cars that much to do such a thing? Have any of you seen similar angst in your area?”

Ahh, the old speed away for 30 yards then hit a stoplight move. Classic, and infinitely better when your ride is a rolling statement about how you perceive the world. Have you witnessed these types of people? Is that just a fun joke or do you take it as an insult? How do you feel about a person who has that plate but debadges his own car?

This story originally came in response to a post from MBWorld member rmorin49 titled “Convince me an E Series is better than a 5 Series BMW or Audi A6.” This is a Mercedes-Benz forum, of course, but let’s see if we can pull out some people who have literally driven the competitors and talk about it from experience.
