If you pay any attention to racing games, it is likely you have heard about Project CARS. Project CARS is the latest game from Slightly Mad studios, the company that created such fan favorites as the Need for Speed: Shift games. Project CARS aims to be the greatest and most realistic racing sim ever created, and the team has been working tirelessly for years to bring this dream to life. As of last Friday, that dream is a reality, and to celebrate, I thought it would be fun to check out five of the coolest cars in the game, all of which happen to wear the Mercedes name.

Project CARS is focused on physics, track selection, and visual realism, so their car collection is lacking. There are only 66 machines total with the base game, and that includes prototypes, open-wheel racers, and karts. That means that nearly 1% of the base cars in the game are Mercedes machines, and damn did they pick some good ones. For the classic loving crowd, we have the 190E 2.5-16 Evo DTM racer and the s300 SEL 6.8 AMG, but if you like more modern machines they have you covered with the pocket-sized A45 AMG, the wicked-sexy SLS AMG, and the wicked-fast SLS AMG GT3. There are more cars coming soon, and I expect more than a few of them to be emblazoned with the three-pointed star, but for now you can also buy the Limited Edition Car Pack and get the DTM-spec C-Class Coupe as well.

I’m fortunate enough to have a 4K monitor and a computer powerful enough to handle it, so please enjoy these 4k resolution shots of the 5 cars from the game. If you want to see anything else from the game, let me know and I will do what I can to capture it for you. Or just head on over to the Project CARS site.
