Any day we get a new video from Chris Harris is a good day. But thanks to a big dose of AMG power, the video below makes today a great day.

This latest edition of Chris Harris on Cars sees the drift monkey tackling what is one of the most anticipated cars of the year, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Interestingly, he does so with more information and less tire smoke than you would imagine.

This car is such a big deal for a multitude of reasons. For starters, it’s the best selling AMG model of all time, so there are big shoes to fill. Also, the current C63 is the last Mercedes model on sale with the legendary M156 6.2-liter V8. This new model dumps that motor for the new turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 found in the Mercedes-AMG GT, which has some folks worried that much of the character present in the current AMG will be lost in translation to the smaller engine.

Rather than spend all day at the track in huge slides of smoke and noise, Harris starts this vid right on the street with a discussion of the new C63 AMG’s road manners, followed by a pretty thorough interior overview. He then spends almost half the video discussing the parts we are all interested in the most: the greasy bits.

Thanks to a clever setup by Mercedes, Harris has access to a large assortment of components on stands so that we can get a great look at every new piece, why it matters, and how it’s different from the old car. This includes a long look at the new engine, and its fancy exhaust system that has been created to mimic that same epic AMG growl in the old naturally aspirated unit.

I don’t want to completely spoil the video, but let’s just say that it’s a great watch, especially if you are a fan of the AMG badge.
