It looks like Mercedes-Benz might have something new up its sleeve in the form of a four-door coupe version of the S-Class.

In a completely different approach to that taken by the CLA-Class or the CLS-Class, the four-door S-Class coupe would be designed by affixing the front and rear ends of the S-Class Coupe to the mid-section of the S-Class sedan. That’s an entirely different approach than the one MB is taking with the CLA and CLS, both of which sport their own bespoke body.

We guess success has its rewards. According to a recent The Drive report, the S-Class outsells all of its competitors in a major way — to the tune of more than 100,000 units every year. So it makes sense that Mercedes would try to find a way to milk more out of the model.

Unfortunately, it appears that we’ll have to wait a bit to get some official details on the four-door S-Class coupe. If the report is true, then the new variant isn’t expected to arrive until roughly 2020, when the next gen S-Class drops.
