Hybrid Power Boost Helps 2025 E53 Earn Its AMG Badge

AMG’s electrification doesn’t mean the E53 is boring now. As proven by 604 total horsepower.

AMG’s wonderful era of V8 engines is in its final days, but that doesn’t mean the speed is gone by any means. While there are V8 engines still rumbling, it’s the 6 cylinder “53” models that are stepping into the spotlight, like the new E53 Hybrid.

Total system power output is 604 horsepower, which is higher than the majority of AMG V8’s, barring a few very special – and crazy expensive – models. 161 of those horses are derived from the electric motor, nestled within the 9-speed automatic transmission. Though it must be said that number is reached when “Race Start” is engaged. In regular driving you’ll have “only” 577 horsepower. You’ll be under 4 seconds to 60 miles per hour either way. Without race start, it is done in 3.9 seconds. Shave 0.2 for the full monty.

And because the E53 Hybrid is a PHEV, it can run on electric only power. Range will probably only be in the double digits, given the 28.6 kWh battery pack. But that’s enough for what it needs to accomplish. Especially in places that will have EV-only restrictions. Have your cake and eat it, too.

As a W214, the E53 AMG gets a unique suspension package. One would think it would get the AirMatic goodies, but according to AutoBlog, the E53 comes only with steel springs and adaptive dampers.

AMG will launch this version with an AMG E53 Hybrid “Edition 1” special package. Paint option? The wildly named “Manufaktur Moonlight White Magno.” Satin white, to the rest of us. Interior trim will have plenty of AMG badging to remind you that you’re in the Affalterbach special, and of course it is wider and meaner than a standard E class.

Fenders are widened by 11mm and unique AMG front grille and rear bumper facia compliment the car in contrasting black. Inside you’ll have more AMG specials. Deep bucket seats and special AMG menus on the interface are ready to greet the next speed addict.

Price? Not announced yet. But it’ll hit dealer showrooms later this year. And surely will hit the drag strip shortly after.
