Lexus RC F Races Mercedes-AMG GT, Gets Annihilated

These guys just never learn. The Mercedes-AMG GT may have a smaller motor and be less powerful than the SLS that came before it, but that certainly doesn’t mean this thing is slow. Its 4.0-liter V8 is fitted with a pair of turbochargers, and it produces more than 500 horsepower. It can put down that power effectively, and it’s relatively lightweight for a car in its class. So why do people insist on trying to drag race against it and embarrass themselves?

Case in point is the video below, which shows a Lexus RC F squaring off against the AMG GT. From a dead stop, the RC F jumps the start, and within seconds the GT screams into the lead. Then there is the 15 mph rolling start. Again, the Mercedes runs off into the horizon. Finally, there is the 45-mph rolling start. This is the most easily won of the three. The Lexus just never stood a chance.

I get that the fancy new coupe from Japan has 480 horsepower from a big 5.0-liter V8, but it’s heavy and slow. No two ways about it. If you are interested in listening to the power of a Mercedes V8 as its runs away from a puny Lexus, press play. Oh, and don’t mind the giggling coming from that camera man as he laughs at how badly the Lexus gets beaten.
