Now this is cool. Over in Germany, there’s a man named Sidney “Sid” Hoffmann, a South African gearhead, garage owner, mechanical engineer, and auto journalist who just took delivery of a brand new Mercedes-AMG C63. As most Benz fanatics know, AMG engines come with a nameplate on it signed by the person who put that specific engine together and inspected it thoroughly.

When Sid Hoffmann looked at his engine, he saw the name Patrick Vogel. As the inquisitive guy he is, Hoffmann took this as an opportunity and made a YouTube video reaching out to Vogel and asking (in German) if the two could meet up to talk:

Kind of hilariously, AMG saw this as an opportunity to turn the situation into an advertisement of sorts. In the description of the event, AMG said Vogel was “too busy” to meet up with Hoffmann, you know, because the engine building NEVER STOPS. Never. Instead, Benz filmed Vogel in the factory and had him take a few minutes to explain a few of the basic steps of building an AMG engine. Not that it really helps Hoffmann, but whatever.
