SLR 722 GT Sounds Off at the Nurburgring

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Edition 722 GT

In terms of hypercars, not many can match the pure guttural sound of the SLR 722 GT. Born of collaboration between AMG and McLaren, the sensational overload from the 722 is the engine, no doubt. Booming away on the Nurburgring like a WW2 fighter, the lead 722 GT makes the two following SLRs seem relatively tame in comparison. Not too bad when the car you’re making look normal has a top speed in excess of 200 mph.

The 722 is one of those cars that has attained hero status. You’re not really sure what to do with yourself when you actually see one, let alone get the opportunity to drive one. Sadly, I have not driven the 722 (hey owners, you’re welcome to change that at any time), but I am pretty sure the Nurburgring would be the ideal place to test it out, as you can see in the snippet of video below. Knowing what the car is capable of in terms of g-force in all directions, it really has to call the race track home. In the U.S., we don’t have highways that can accommodate the speeds of the SLR, so it’s Autobahn or bust.
