A Great Way To Update The Looks Of Your Car For Around $100
wiring being anemic in design...even with OEM bulbs. best to rig up relay and
supplemental wiring harness if you have any doubt as to the wiring gauge or
connectors. at least read up on this for your model/year....though often, these
anomalies crop up in the months/years to come....as TSBs or on the MB boards.
if anybody near the boston area doesn't feel comfortable doing it and wants these done, i can order the parts and install for a total of $150
check out what formymercedes.com wants for thier clear fog lamps:

the ones on ebay look exactly the same for 5 times less.
Do you think you could take a picture of the stock fog light w/o its lense?
Qestions:
Do you guys think it would look as good if you just went out and bought a clear lense and just replaced the stock lense and bulb?
What is the standard power requirement for the bulbs?

you better begin to bone up on electrics again. the 9006 draws 55 watts.
this is the load it demands in order to light up properly. if the wiring is
insufficient in size (gauge) it will be viewed as high resistance. high
resistance creates heat. heat, if not dissapated properly, will cause melt
down.
factory wiring is usually sized for the load it is designed to operate. back to
the top: factory load is expected to be 55 watts. yes, there is a chance
that the wiring is heavy duty. herein lies the rub. MB has demonstrated,
especially in the fog light wiring, to have used lighter gauge wiring. so by
doubling the load (bulb wattage) you tempt fate a bit more and pushing the
envelope at which meltdown occurs.
not saying that IT WILL....rather, you better be damn sure that the circuit
is robust enough to support that 100 watter.

holy ****!!! i never knew the lense was made of glass!!! its pretty heavy

and w/ the 01 front bumper you cant see the grey that rlee was describing. Ima search on ebay today for some clear lenses and find some 55w foglights
mj50: can you see the grey parts on your car?
thanks!
for bulbs, it's really up to you... for me, i tried to match the color to lo-beam as much as possible.
I had ebay knockoffs installed on my car, with PIAA ion yellows, they are so bright, AND they are 55w.

anyone know of the 9006 55w's would work on a c320 spkg? I asked the folks selling the bulbs, but they said they thought it would work, but are unsure. told me to call the dealership in the area and all they can seem to do is transfer me around and put me on hold :\
thanks!
