Diesel? How long do they last?
Alright, i drive quite a bit. I'm getting a bit mad at my self for putting so many miles on my car and getting 8-10 mpg is quite annoying. ::thanks performance mods:: So i'm thinking about getting a E300, and making it run on vegi oil. So i went on ebay and every diesel car has about 100K + in milage. I heard that diesel motors last about 300-400K miles is it true etc etc

1999 Mercedes Benz E300TD For Sale
The Mercedes Diesel engines well maintained will last till eternity.300,000 to 400,000 is an understatement. I have a 1999 E300td that I don't use very often that I can sell.I live in Jonestown,Pennsylvania 17038. The car has a digital odometer that shows 71,000 miles but supposedly the car has over 100,000. It runs great. It is Brilliant silver with chrome 5 star 17 inch AMG wheels. The interior is beige/tan. It has 2 sideskirts (spoilers) on the rocker panels painted the same color as the car and a small thin trunkwing. It runs awesome and I had the computer software upgraded to unleash more power
and it definetly worked. I now have a 2000 E55 AMG so i don't really need the 300 anymore.Plus I have many other cars.If your interested I can send you photos.I'll take around $14,800. Its so economical ,especially on the high way that its unbelievable. I would say probably average of 29 mpg. If you want you can run it on off road diesel for about $2.00 per gallon or go on greasecar .com and order the veggy conversion and then run for free or you can now purchase Bio Diesel cheaper. Its nice when you have a choice of 5 different fuels to pick from.My gas slob E55 only runs on premium gas for premium money. If you can move up to a 2005 or later E320CDI you'll have a car with more power and acceleration that you'll ever modify your M104 to have. They are truly unbelievable.
Pre-CDI diesel Mercedes are pretty slow in comparison.

nah my m104 is on the back burner, saving up for a twin turbo kit. But i drive alot, and i hate looking down to see that my car is getting old. it has 66K now, about a noth ago it had 64-65. Besides my god damn m104 is doing 10 mpg, that gets annoying about 250 miles per tank is just gay. I was gettin about 15, then i ran fule injector cleaner. Whata help.

I get ~35mpg on straight hwy driving and thats on winter blend. The W210 diesels however are trickier to properly convert to WVO, due to the fuel shutoff, and filter setup. I'd recommend checking out www.frybrid.com and do a couple quick searches in the forum. Frybrid will install their automatic wvo kit for you, but will not sell it as a DIY as it is a lot trickier than an older mercedes diesel.

King of Diesels
I will agree with you 100%. The Last Emperor of Diesel is the 2005-2006 in line six E320 CDi without a doubt. The E420 CDi which we cannot buy in NA is more powerful but is a 72 degrees "narrow angle" V-8 like the latest Bluetec V-6 and is not balanced like the straight six.
In terms of fuel economy, power, smoothness, ease to power upgrades, lack of useless **** injection and durability (remember the solid iron block) there is nothing in this world to beat our CDis.

you live in SAR or USA?

If you are living in SAR then you are out of luck with diesel cars. The government had outlawed diesels for taxis and they will be after private car owners next. You know the smog and pollution blew down from the PRC and local cars are being used as scapegoats.

I was reading something about the new Bluetec engines. I heard that those would be legal in california?
So a Diesel engine lasts about 400k miles? and a normal engine for a w210 lasts 200k? Does anyone know the averages? Thanks everyone

W210 mileage
You should probably get way more than 200k out of that straight six.I don't know with modifying it and twin turbos and beating it might throw a rod or something.Original specs and regular driving that gas motor would exceed 300k easily,so don't worry about it hitting 66,000.If you ever do harm it ,I have a silver 96 E320 with 64k with heavy body damage for parts. Some of the accesories on the motor are damaged but the engine appears to be fine.
I'll sell it cheap.I will never use it because those engines don't go bad unless you overheat it,run it out of oil,or blow it with high RPM's. Also 99 E300 td
for sale. Charlie crdsaleen@yahoo.com

If you are mechanically inclined the turbodiesel engines of '86 - '99 are capable of 400 - 500 hp with a large intercooler, tuned injection pump with large elements, and a larger turbocharger.
No chipping required. Want more power? Turn a couple of screws on the back of the injection pump.
Thanks, Myna diesel, for allowing guys like me to have an opportunity to take on S55 AMG Kompressors in my 3.0 liter 20 year old turbodiesel S-Class.

A mercedes diesel engine will definetly go 400k. I have seen so many.Thats why Mercedes is putting diesels in New Freightliner road tractors and Freightliner sprinter vans.Didn't you ever hear of the million mile club.Old mercedes benz diesels that hit over 1,000,000 miles with out rebuilding. And an e320 in line six hits 200k with ease.I'm getting my averages from cars I've owned and cars I've seen in person and cars I've seen on the internet. Now I have a 2000 Mercedes E55 aluminum V8 with 205,000 miles.Runs like NEW!Thats where I get my averages. How about a 2000 S500 with 266,000.If you don't drive them how are you going to get your moneys worth.

mbs320,
those mileage figures are impressive. have you had to replace the transmission on either your e55 or your previous e420?

Friend of mine had this 5 cylinder S-Class diesel (cannot recall model) for over 20 years and he gave it to his mechanic after the air-cond gave up. The only catch - paper thin fender on the passenger rear side with lots of big rust bubbles. I think the diesel leaked from the filler cap or pipe.
It had over 200,000 miles. He put all sorts of oils into the tank well before it became fashionable to do so including waste oils and bio-diesels. His favorite was automatic transmission fluid. He did not even use synthetic engine oil.
