Increased in FSS indicator
Anyone experienced FSS indicator increase? Mine was decreasing increment of 100 miles very steady until 4 weeks ago. It moved up in miles. Please let me know. I was at 10,000 miles interval for first service A. Now I am at about 14,000 miles interval for first service A.

Simple; you are drving too carefully or babying your car, so the computer has extended your break-in period. It happened to my wife's car too...and then I had it for 2 weeks...it went back to "normal" pretty quickly!

The FSS actually measues the viscosity and conductance of the oil in the engine. It then analyses these measurements based on the milage since the last oil change and makes a projection when the next oil change is required. The 10,000 mile number is the initial value used right after the FSS is reset at an oil change. It is dynamically updated based on the actual measurements of the oil quality.
Adding oil reduces the contaminatents in the oil on average, thus increasing the milage to the next required oil change. Driving lightly causes less "wear an tear" on the oil resulting in a longer life for the oil, conversely driving heavily results in a shorter life for the oil.
The concept of dynamically measuring the quality of oil in the engine was a big change for me, but it is really the way oil life should be measured.
