2001 CLK 55 AMG.......... 2001 Corvette Z06.........
transmission svc

i am having a local mechanic do all of my maintenance and minor repair work...is the pan gasket and filter a straight forward job?

besides having to buy the dipstick tool, fluid and cap from the dealer?

there aren't any sensors hovering near the transmission filter are they?

Its pretty typical for dropping the pan.
Have you had the wire feed through grommet changed before? If not, its a good time to do that too.

Its nothing more than a connector inside the transmission to carry all the signals to the TCM located under your shifter. These cars have become notorious for "wicking" fluid up the harness and damaging the TCM. You can buy the part on AutohausAZ.com and replace it when doing a service.

hmm...do you think it would it be prudent to spray something on the harness(outside the tranny) during svc to dilute anything that may have wicked?

perhaps electrical connector cleaner??

Its actually the O-ring that tends to fail. I would just replace it. It is pretty straight forward. And by "wicking", I mean that the fluid tends to creep upward through the harness to the TCM. Search it, you'll read all about it.

i know what u meant by wicking..i guess a visual inspection of the harness is in order and ill find an appropriate spray to dilute any fluid that may have already wicked if applicable.
