Tire question specifically our cars

OK, I have read endless posts on the Tire and Wheel forum and I am not really finding what I am looking for so I thought I would post directly into our forum. I am looking to put some new rubber on my 2000 E320. I am not interested in changing the factory size or changing wheels. But I do live in the 4-season state of Ohio (USA) so I am looking for the best all-season and great performance tire that I can find. You guys are a wealth of information on this forum so I trust your opinion dearly. In your experince, what would you say has been the best all-season tire for your E-Class? Thanks in advance for all replys.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Costco

Michelin Primacy MXV4
great tire
great warranty
I think there is a $70 promo going on right now.

for snow though unless you have a 4 matic get a set of rims and find a set of studded snow tires to put on in the winter months.
rear wheel drive only e class don't play well in the snow without real snow tires.
I just picked up 4 studded snows used for 2 months last year, mounted on 2001 e320 rims in great condition on craigslist for $125 for all 4.
Tires alone were 800 bucks last year when the guy bought them and then sold his wagon.
That is the kind of deal you need to look for.

Re:

It's a garage queen so it will see very limited driving in the snow (church on Sunday's etc...) but I still want a very good all season tire. I appreciate the input on the Michelin's. I happen to be a Michelin fan so I am going to do a little research on your recommendation. Thanks!

I agree with Olord on the Michelin Primacy. I put a set on about 20K ago. They're quiet, handle well, and although I try not to drive in snow, the few times I have, it did much better than with the Dunlaps I had previously. I did my research at the "TireRack.com"

I would look at the Nokian WRG2. It is a true all-weather tire that will work well on any road surface and temperature - dry road, packed snow, ice, slush. I was very happy with them when I lived in Michigan.

I have conti dsw's. They have worked well for the past 2 years. Got them for $600 on tirerack and got a free GPS as part of a promotion. Michelins are good too.

Contiis Extreme DWS are great in the snow. Warranty is 50K miles and they are considerable cheaper than the Michelins.

I can't speak to the conti DSWs but I have the previous generation Conti Extreems and they are a great AW tire with one caveat...thin sidewalls.
They are advertised as an Ultra HP tire and that's a bit of a reach. I would classify them as an AW/HP tire.

You will feel the difference with the thin/soft sidewalls in the trade between ride/comfort vs handling. Plus - with the low aspect ratio tires on our 430 I was warned about sidewall strength - and we did get a sidewall failure (bubble) upon hitting a good old fashioned Chicago pot hole.

That said - I agree with Ohlord and go a step further. RWD 210s are horrible in the snow. At least our E420 was. With Bllizzaks it improved to bad. 4Matic transforms the car in harsh weather.

You should be ok if you have other transportation when the snow flies.

+3 on the Michelin Primacy, good tire. +3 on RWD horrible in snow too. (Bring chains and kitty litter)
