300sd new Starter equals 0 power in car
I installed a new starter, and unfortunatlly put the main wires on in reverse. When i touched the batter positive cable to the battery, there was a large spark. I instantly pulled the cable off. I corrected the wire positions on the starter and when i connected the battery, now there is now power shown in the car. no dash lights, glow light, head lights. and of course the starter does not start. Batter is fully charged. I checked cont to the junction for the altenator, all checks good to starter and battery. Ive been agonizing over this for 2 weeks now. Please help. Thank you.

check for power at the starter post as well as power at the alternator if you have power there then go to the power distribution post under the fuse box(c-100) I hope you have power there or evidence of burned wires that might be an easy fix.

All wires seem good and have cont. I guess i will replace all the fuses, just incase its one of them. If anybody has had similar problem, please do contact me. I am not rich and cannot afford a merc mechanic to come to my house and fix it....Once again,
all i did was put a new starter in my fully working car. It just cesed working one morning, the starter, no turn over or cranking. all the lights and dash warning lights were working fine, when you turned the key, nothing would happen, ie no starter crank. I purchased a new starter from Napa. it is a Bosch, it came with new solonoid attached. i installed it, with the battery disconnected. when i put the positive on the battery, sparks flew, i immediatly removed the battery cable. switched the starter wires, and now no power inside car. there is power at the starter, there is power at the wheel well junction.

If you checked the hot side to the fuses and is hot ,now check the ground side at the battery all the way to the engine, you might find melted connections or carboned up connection from spark that you made.
