2012 E550 4Matic, Sleeper?
Looking to replace the wife's 2009 E with a 2012 E and I noticed that the only way to order an E550 is to get it with a 4matic 4.6TT with 402hp 443tq. I wonder what type of performance gains can be had with this sleeper?

Maybe worth a call to renntech to see if they have tweaked the smaller v8 yet?

I ran a S 550 4matic 4.4tt at PBIR last week and it ran 12.5. He was tuned.

I'd look into how easily Mercedes can detect that you've put a tune on it. I know the domestics have really cracked down on the newer computers and have set it up where they can tell if the tune was changed even if you put it back to stock before taking it to the dealer. Would hate to void the warranty on a new E550!
A possible workaround if Mercedes is indeed doing this is to buy a second computer and tune that and swap em. This may present several problems in and of itself though. Worked on my old TrailBlazer SS though. Definitely something to look into before throwing a tune at it.

CLS 550 (C218) Stock Performance:
402 HP @ 5000 RPM; 443 LB-FT @ 1800 RPM
Note: Mercedes M278 engine performance when measured obtains higher numbers that rated from factory.
Modified Performance:
530 HP @ 4900 RPM; 606 LB-FT @ 4100 RPM
+70 HP and +80 Torque over measured performance
402 HP @ 5000 RPM; 443 LB-FT @ 1800 RPM
