Thanks, dinko

Thanks for the pics. I didn't have a camera with me when I was at Mercedes of Tampa.

That was shortly after noon - it looks like you were there about an hour later!

What goes in the box under the hood that appears to have its lid off in the second to last photo? Is that available storage room and if so is it too close to heated engine parts to be safe for keeping a camera?l

Or is it merely the box for the air filter with the filter having been removed?

In the photo just after the one with the Escort radar detector there appears to be a view of the storage space available between the two front seats in a vertical compartment. Those of you who will be seeing this car at other locations in Florida could you get some solid measurements of what size it is? I'm trying to find a safe place to keep photo equipment.

1) The 2nd to last shot, as you specified, is where the battery is located. I have always wondered where the battery was, and that was designed so that the water flow goes over the battery.

2) What kind of photo equipment are you trying to put in there? Oh and by the way, the center storage console is VERY nice, has a lot of space. You shouldn't have any trouble keeping any equipment in the car.

I'd also like to add that the glove compartment was VERY disappointing. But But that is why the 3 other storages in the center make up for everything. The 6-CD changer should fit beautifully in the car.

Looks like another sucky mesh wind blocker...

I'll have to shell out a few more hundred bucks for a sensible, clear plexiglass windblocker on our new SLK350.
Why sell a $55,000 car and a $20 cloth windblocker? Porsche even had a clear one on the cheap(er) Boxster... Those cloth mesh ones block rearview vision, and are a safety hazard (IMHO from my experience in my '98 SLK). Backing up is much better now that I have the clear plexiglass windblocker...

Anyone know if those are available yet from Germany? (Haven't done a search yet.. just thought I would ask now...no flames please!)
