As an alternative to a $20 LOC one could certainly use a variety of sound processors. I did some research based on Brabusman's MOTUS suggestion and found some prices on an audio forum site across the pond; any dealers in the US?
AGW Ligth 4 Canali €492 iva inclusa
AGW Ligth 6 Canali €594 iva inclusa
AGW Ligth 8 Canali €648 iva inclusa
mentre la versione PLUS costa al pubblico:
AGW Plus 4 Canali €690 iva inclusa
AGW Plus 6 Canali €780 iva inclusa
AGW Plus 8 Canali €864 iva inclusa
Today's rate: 1 Euro = 1.4955 U.S. dollars

Sorry about the delay - I was on vacation w/o e-mail or internet. Kinda relaxing, actually. Anyway - it's a smaller set up (I don't want to be deaf before I'm 25): one JL 13' flat piston & a 600 watt Alpine amp (see stock pics). Not a huge boom, but like I said I <3 my hearing & I wanted to keep the back of the vehicle open enough to toss stuff in there / not have to remove a huge box every time I had to move some big item.

If you'd like to see some pictures of how true professional installers would integrate the same system shoot me your e-mail address and I will gladly send you some photos.
So again....your install might work for you, and if it does, God bless, but it should not be refrenced as a "how-to" article.
P.S. -- NEVER, EVER use an LOC. They do nothing but mess with the signal. Use a MOTUS M.O.S.T. fiber-optic interface :-)

... would love to see some picture from a pro install
ps: the Motus thing has just been tested in my car but you must say goodbye to the Logic7 feature ... and that's not what I want !
