I have a 2012 GL450 that has bluetooth phone, but not bluetooth audio, etc. Looks like the Media Interface Plus will solve my problem, but Mercedes no longer makes it and I can't find it. I have two main goals, as cheap as possible:

1) bluetooth audio, specifically streaming spotify, with the ability to see the track information and change songs on the steering wheel (similar to how the iPod media interface works on it now)

2) send and receive text messages via voice commands.

Looking for "cheap alternatives" for an expensive car is just good advice. A rude response would be telling you that you have no sense of value and a stupid request. You should resort to using watered down gasoline while you're at it.
